About Pawside

People shouldn't have to choose between their life and their pet's care.

That's the whole idea. Everything else — the services, the schedules, the visit reports — exists to make that true for the households we work with.

Why we started

Pawside was created around a simple idea.

Every pet owner has had the same afternoon. A meeting runs long, traffic doesn't move, and you're doing math in your head about how long it's been since anyone let the dog out. You're not a bad owner. You're just a person with a job.

Pawside started because the options for that afternoon weren't great. Ask a neighbor for the fourth time, or open an app and hope the stranger who accepts your request reads the notes about the back gate. Neither one is the same as having someone who already knows your pet.

So the whole service is built the other way around. A limited number of households. The same caregiver whenever the calendar allows. Written routines instead of generic checklists. And a real summary after every visit, because “it went fine” isn't information.

Pets have personalities, routines, preferences, fears, favorite toys, favorite walking routes, feeding habits, and quirks. The care should adapt around the animal — not treat every booking as another appointment.

Our mission

Make it easy to be a good pet owner on a busy week.

Not a marketplace. Not a franchise. A local service where the person walking your dog recognizes your dog — and where you never have to feel guilty about having a full day.

The animal sets the pace

Some dogs want two miles. Some want to sniff one hedge for ten minutes. Neither is wrong, and we don't rush either.

Say what actually happened

If your cat hid the whole visit, or your dog didn't finish dinner, you'll hear it. Honest updates are worth more than reassuring ones.

Consistency over volume

We cap how many households we take so the same caregiver can keep showing up for the same pets.

Your home, your rules

Shoes off, no dogs on the couch, side door only, alarm code re-armed. Tell us once and it's how we operate.

Care philosophy

We follow the routine you already built.

You've spent years learning what your pet needs. Our job isn't to improve on that — it's to keep it going while you're not there.

  • Same food, same times, same bowl

Consistency prevents more problems than anything else we do.

  • Their pace on walks

Sniffing is enrichment. A slow walk isn't a wasted one.

  • No forcing interaction

Shy pets get space. Trust is earned across visits, not demanded on visit one.

  • Honest reporting

If they didn't eat, didn't poop, or seemed off, you hear it that day.

Safety

The unglamorous part, taken seriously.

Nobody books a pet sitter because of their insurance policy. It still matters on the day something goes wrong.

Pet first aid & CPR certified

Recertified regularly, with a stocked kit in the car.

Insured and bonded

Coverage for the pets in our care and your home while we're in it.

Vet and emergency contacts on file

Your veterinarian, a backup clinic, and your emergency contact are saved with each pet profile before the first visit.

Secure entry handling

Codes and keys are stored without identifying details and shared only with your assigned caregiver.

Weather and heat protocols

Pavement checks in summer, paw protection in winter, and indoor enrichment when it isn't safe outside.

GPS-tracked walks

Every walk logs its route, duration, and distance in your visit summary.

Who you'll meet

The person behind Pawside

You'll know exactly who is coming to your home, and it won't be a different name every week.

Case

Founder & Lead Caregiver

I started Pawside after years of watching friends and neighbors scramble for someone reliable. I'd rather know twenty families and their animals well than take every booking that comes in — that's the whole business model.

  • Pet First Aid & CPR certified
  • Insured & bonded
  • 8 years caring for dogs and cats
  • Comfortable with senior and medicated pets

The dogs who start waiting by the window five minutes before I'm due.

Growing carefully

As Pawside adds caregivers, every one of them will be background-checked, pet first aid certified, and trained on your pet's written profile before their first visit. We would rather turn down work than send someone your pet doesn't know.
